Leah started riding therapy a few weeks ago to help improve her speech (Apraxia) and some of her other “quirks”.
I have to say, this girl loves horses!
Funny, she can be fearful of many things – car wash anyone? But get her around a horse, a rather large horse, and she couldn’t be happier.
Here she is giving Bobby the horse a treat after their lesson.
The therapist got out her mini wheel barrow (more good OT work!), and Leah happily, joyfully, helped clean up after Bobby.
The barn even has a fancy conveyor belt to carry the “stuff” to the spreader.
All the kids enjoyed this part.
We are looking into Sarah starting therapy as well. It may help with her low muscle tone issues and increase her core/hip strength. Regardless, she is excited to start riding along with Leah.
We are excited to see what the addition of Hippotherapy may do for Leah.

I find it amazing how children navigate through their world. My daughter is quirky and she can be terrified of thunder yet want to be a storm chaser. She can be very clumsy on the ground but graceful on the ice. To me it seems like her lack of fear is because on some level she knows that this is so good for her, therefore there is no reason to be afraid. I hope this therapy helps your daughters.

What an awesome opportunity for Leah! She definitely looks like she is in her comfort zone.
I remember the days of screaming from one end to the car wash to the other. Glad those days have passed.

I have heard great things about horse therapy…we have a great place around our area too. So happy for Leah and (and maybe Sarah) for this huge blessing:)

Yeah!!!!! I always thought that this was such a brilliant idea for the children, just brilliant!!! She really looks so happy on that (large) animal. And they get her really involved, don’t they? I bet the others really liked seeing the end results and watching how they were transported
