Around the House – Â My Dad came over this week to make a few small additions to our school room, I will share more on that later. Â We did clear out a bunch of things from the house and garage to donate to a garage sale the Knights of Columbus were having at our parish. Â Otherwise, just the basics of housekeeping are getting covered. Â We have been busy enjoying summer!
In the Kitchen – I hate to say it but, I really haven’t kept up with any kind of meal plan this summer, except that Bob has been grilling out on Saturday nights and we have pizza on Sunday. Â Other than that we seem to be flying by the seat of our pants. Â For a few weeks in the summer it will be okay, we will get back to our regularly scheduled meals in September.
Education – We started back to school on Monday. Â So far we have gotten in two full days and I am happy with both our schedule and our curriculum choices. Â We will have a short week this week and next, it has been nice to ease into things.

Paths of Exploration – Â We kicked off our new school year with a field trip to see The Nina & Pinta. Â Our first unit is on Christopher Columbus. Â So far we are all really happy with this curriculum choice, in fact I over heard Jacob say “I love school”. Â Coming from him, our hard to please boy, that’s a pretty big statement! Â I think we are going to enjoy keeping the notebooks and seeing the progress the kids make over the year.
Sounds like a great week! We will be starting back to school in 2 weeks (all of the away-from-home schooled kiddos) and then Seth and I will start the following week with homeschool. So I have three weeks to plan and get ready because of course I procrastinated until now.
I have a question. Do you have a suggestion for a good, Catholic, character building/manners book. We are in need of one this year.
Thanks!
Looks like a fun week. I love your new header 🙂
It’s nice to see this back up! Yay! I’ll link up next week! (We haven’t started back to school yet though! LOL) My youngest enjoys the pattern blocks!
Kimberlie, I would recommend P.A.C.E. here is a link:

We used it on and off last year during tea time, we will do the same this year.
Thank you!
The pattern blocks were a hit!
Jen, this is a great first week. You always pick the neatest things for your kids to do.
Great wrap up and love the pizza on the grill idea. I will look forward to seeing how you do that:) We are starting out with nutrition and exercise with our first Social Studies unit too. Thanks of the link to the worksheet! Have a blessed weekend:)
Jen, the picture of Levi is just precious… what a beautiful smile he has!
Thank you Jen! I looked it up and it looks good. I am also considering the Great Adventure Bible Timeline for Kids. I participated in the adult study 4 years ago and it was fantastic. I think the kids version looks promising.
