In keeping with my adoption theme for the month, here are 10 Things I Love About Adoption.
1. Travel – The opportunity to travel to different parts of the world. Russia and South Korea would probably never have been on my “to see” list, but traveling to those countries have definitely been an unexpected bonus.
2. New Culture – The opportunity to learn about a new culture and incorporate it into the everyday. We have learned new things in history and tried many new foods, some of which we now eat on a regular basis.
3. Someone calls me Mom – If it wasn’t for the gift of adoption, no one would call me Mom.
4. A Melting Pot – every family is unique, most days I love that our family looks unique except when someone decides to have a melt down in public
5. Paperwork – it’s not fun, but you get really good a filling things out!
6. Patience – again it’s not fun, but adoption does give your patience muscle a good workout.
7. Meet lots of great people – we have had the opportunity to meet and travel with some wonderful people from across the country. People we would have otherwise never met, and now share a unique bond.
8. Pro-Life/Pro-Family – adoption is one of the many ways we can put our pro-life views into action.
9. Faith – a good exercise in letting go of what your plan for your life looked like and letting God work out the details.
10. The thing I love the most about adoption – My Kids!

Jen,
This is fantastic and I believe those facing infertility need to read. We talked about infertility on our podcast, http://www.oneextraordinarymarriage.com/119-why-cant-we-have-a-baby, and we shared with our listeners that even though you cannot physically have a child you can still be a mom & dad.
Thank you for sharing how adoption has impacted you and your family. You guys are a true blessing to many.
Awesome and perfectly said…love that precious photo!
Thanks Tony, I appreciate your kind words!
Jen, your Catholic adoption blog has become one of my new favorites since I started blogging again … So glad you’re here! Blessings, Heidi (http://heidihesssaxton.wordpress.com)
Thanks Heidi, that means a great deal. Happy Advent!
