Around the House→ It was a challenge to get back into the swing of things this week after a nice Thanksgiving weekend. I know Advent has started, but it still seems a bit too early to be in full Christmas prep mode. The Jesse Tree ornaments are ready to go, Christmas cards are in the mail, and I am slowing pulling out our decorations. This Christmas list is pretty well finished.
I am thinking it would be such a treat to have a special room dedicated to Christmas prep. Our closet is beginning to look like a storage room, you know this closet, that already holds clothes for eight! Thankfully the storage room look is only temporary.

Bob and I have been obsessing planning at little NK (no kids) get-away. He turns 40 (!!) in the spring so we are hoping to get away someplace quite for a couple of days. (!!)
Around the Kitchen→ Baking cakes and making frost for our cake decorating class.
Feast Day→ Feast Days galore coming up on the calendar. Dec 6th, we do our stockings for St. Nicholas, December 8th ~ Immaculate Conception, December 9th ~ St. Juan Diego, definitely a family favorite. We usually do something simple like have a mexican dish for dinner, December 12th ~ Our Lady of Guadalupe, and December 13th ~ St. Lucy. We do our annual Christmas lights excursion. We recently ordered a CD from Holy Heroes on the story of St. Juan Diego, so I know we will enjoy listening to that.
Winter Outings→ Jacob and I, along with a niece, are taking a cake decorating class. Jacob is already planning his internship with the Cake Boss, he was in his glory decorating his cookies.
Discovery Time→
Basic Skills Unit: Lots and lots of Advent books. We are using many of the books from this list as well as many that we already owned. Here are the ones we enjoyed this week: Merry Christmas, Strega Nona, The Crippled Lamb, and Advent Storybook. We are scaling back with regular “school” during Advent. The older boys each have a project to work on this month. I will share more about that later.
Jacob ~ Mental Math, Nate the Great
Jonah ~ MUS, All About Spelling Reader
Sarah ~ MUS, Christmas Readers
Along the Alphabet Path: - L is for Legos and St. Lucy. There has been lots of Lego building this week. It helped that we snagged an unused container full of Legos from Grandmas house over the weekend. Lego creations are all over the house.
This alphabet puzzle was used quite a bit. We read about St. Lucy and colored a coloring page. We collected L words on the chalkboard and put bodies in motion to make the letter L.
This is our last week of the alphabet path for 2010, we will pick up again with letter M in 2011.
Please feel free to add your week to the linky, just refer back to my blog and you are all set to enter! Be sure to stop by the other links and leave a comment :)

Legos!! That is the perfect thing for L week. :) We are also reading Merry Christmas Strego Nona- one of our favorite advent reads. Great wrap up. Today is crazy, but I am going to try to join in later.
What a great wrap up you posted. I'm on the same page as you with almost everything you wrote. Time is coming too quickly. I like to sit and enjoyt the season as though I'm sipping a hot cup of coffee!
We just pulled our dec's out...thought I should since we will have David's BIL for the weekend. Everything is ready but the Christmas tree. Just can't bring myself to gamble...will the lights go on? or off? LOL
Your week looked fun. And yes! what a huge array of holy days coming up, isn't there?!
(Go for the get-away!!!)
Let your kids know that Monarchs that they might see go to Mexico- the ones from where we live stay on our side of the Rocky Mountains. :)
What a fun week. We, too, are having trouble with routine. I think I'm taking a break for Advent except from Math and Reading. Have fun planning a get-away. Something to look forward to is such great motivation. God Bless your precious household. How is your sister doing with new baby?
I so enjoy reading this weekly post. hurray for Jacob taking that class! I'm interested in that book you're planning to read, "How to read a book!"
