“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the midst of them” Matthew 18:20
As parents we are in constant need of God’s grace, promptings from the Holy Spirit, discernment and wisdom. Â Graces come from the sacrament of marriage. Â God brought my husband and I together to love, nurture, and raise these particular children. Â Don’t ever underestimate the power of those graces!
Praying together for our children is another way to strengthen our marriage, and in turn strengthen our family. Â
Life changes, so we modify prayers throughout the year. Â Just as our prayer needs change, so do those of our children.Â
Lent starts this week, a perfect time to begin the habit of praying for your children!

How do you pray for your children?

I have tried to be more diligent in this area, as well. While I normally like doing everything electronically, I tend to keep a handwritten prayer journal. I have a notebook that I jot prayer requests down in and then I write the date next to them when they are answered.

Jen, I love the idea of you both having the same prayers that you are saying for the children (and their individual needs). What a beautiful idea.

I love that you come together to decide on specific prayers for your children. I am sure that doing this together not only strengthens your bond with your children, but strengthens your bond as a couple too.

Which prayer app do you use?

I use one called Prayer Journal. I’ve had it for a while and for some reason I couldn’t find it to link it up, but there are several available.

I like to hand write things too!

Sanibel Island sounds fabulous! How awesome that you and your husband take time to formulate prayer intentions for each child. That’s teamwork!

I just love this post, Jen. I pray a decade of the Rosary for each of my children but I have never thought to ask my husband how HE prays! (Duh!) This will make a great date night conversation that I will look forward to. Thanks for great resources too. I have heard of some but not others. I just recently linked up to a Catholic prayer group who prays for their children and I can’t think of the name at the moment to link here. I’ll have to check and get back if you are interested. God bless and thanks again!
